What happens when I protect something?
A one-way matching record is created and signed by your Ma’atara identity. The record becomes public; your source work does not.
What does verified mean?
That the claim holds: the signature over the capsule checks out against the key it names, and nothing has been altered since it was made.
What is AI-Pref?
A machine-readable way to say how your work may be used — so a crawler can find out before it takes it, rather than after.
How identity works here
Your identity is controlled by encrypted private material on the browser origins you deliberately set up or pair. Ma’atara services do not keep a server-side signing-key backup.
Signing in on another device
Your key moves between your own devices without ever being readable on the network.
What leaves your device
Your work stays where it is. A set of one-way measurements, a signature and a timestamp become public — and you can inspect that whole record yourself.
How Ma’atara secures your connection
Encrypted transport, a locked-down edge, and one honest limit: signing in a browser is not the same as signing in dedicated hardware.

One identity, one plan, shared between Ma’atara Provenance and Parable. Cancelling is self-service from Parable; a few things around it still go through email.
What happens to my data if Ma’atara shuts down?
There is no open-source or self-host promise to point to. The honest guarantee is your own export — and how current it is depends on you.
