How billing works, and how to cancel

One identity, one plan, shared between Ma’atara Provenance and Parable. Cancelling is self-service from Parable; a few things around it still go through email.

Notes is free, with no card required. Provenance, Atelier and Research are paid plans on top of it. A plan you activate applies to the same identity everywhere — activate it here or in Parable and the other product sees it too, because both read the same signed entitlement.

Checkout hands off to a payment provider (Stripe, or a regional equivalent) for card or local-payment-method processing. Ma’atara receives a subscription and entitlement record, not your full card details.

Cancelling

In Parable, go to Settings → Plans & billing and open the “Cancelling or changing your plan” card. If you hold a paid plan, a Cancel plan button is there; it asks you to confirm before doing anything, since it is not reversible from that button.

Cancelling schedules the plan to end at the close of your current billing period — access continues until then, it does not stop immediately. After that date the identity moves to the free Notes tier automatically. Your identity, notes, and anything already protected are untouched either way; cancelling ends the paid plan going forward, it is not a deletion request. You can resubscribe at any time, before or after the plan ends.

Choosing the free Notes tier in the plan picker on that same page, on its own, does not cancel a paid plan — it only closes the picker. Use the Cancel plan button for that.

What still goes through email

Refunds, and anything that falls outside standard cancellation (a plan set up outside self-service billing, a billing dispute, anything the Cancel button reports it cannot handle), go to trust@parable.social from your account’s email address. We confirm once it is done. This applies equally whether the plan was activated from Ma’atara Provenance or from Parable.
